Cannabis tasting is the sensory analysis and assessment of cannabis. Although the process of tasting cannabis is as old as the plant itself, a more systematic approach has been developed. Professional cannabis tasters, like Certified Ganjiers, describe the variety of perceived tastes, smells, and overall qualities of a cannabis cultivar using a continually changing specialized vocabulary and process. Similar language and methods may be used in casual recreational tastings, often requiring a far less rigorous approach for a more subjective, broader experience.
Following in the footsteps of the wine sommelier, cigar enthusiast, or master chocolatier, Ganjier is a first-of-its-kind, multi-tiered, comprehensive cannabis trade certification program. The curriculum is curated and taught by the most reputable names in the industry, and its sole goal is to create the Ganjier, a new class of cannabis professionals.

The Curriculum
The Ganjier program, which covers essential subjects including cannabis quality, history, botany, science, genetics, cultivation, consumption, and service, is the most comprehensive and demanding cannabis sommelier curriculum in the world. Since the renowned Ganjier Council teaches every subject in the curriculum, students have unmatched opportunities to study straight from the most knowledgeable cannabis experts in the world.
The Systematic Assessment Protocol™
Also known as The SAP, this proprietary tool was created to be the most thorough and accurate cannabis quality assessment method ever developed. The Ganjier Council vigorously debated and agreed upon a standard set of criteria that the SAP applies to critically assess the genuine desirability of cannabis flowers and concentrates. The SAP harnesses the power of all four senses we use to interact with cannabis: aroma, appearance, flavor, and experience.
The Certification Process
The Ganjier Certification Process is highly rigorous to guarantee quality and comprehension at all levels. To become a Certified Ganjier, candidates must complete ten online courses, multiple days of live, hands-on training in Southern Humboldt, CA, and a stringent three-part exam covering cannabis service, cannabis assessment, and cannabis knowledge to demonstrate a mastery of the Ganjier principles. Only then will a candidate be qualified as a Certified Ganjier.
